About Abbey Chapel

We are an independent Evangelical Christian Fellowship situated in the centre of Tavistock.

Word

As an Evangelical Fellowship, we hold the Bible to be the true Word of God, written by individuals under the direction of the Holy Spirit. The Word is always read during our Sunday Services, and forms the basis for all teaching and preaching on Sundays and in our mid-week housegroups. We also ensure that the teaching for our Children and Young People’s Groups is Bible based.

Worship

We have a small team of gifted musicians who, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, use a selection of traditional and modern hymns and songs of worship to lead the fellowship into a place of praise and worship of the Lord in our family worship services.

Prayer

We consider prayer to be of the utmost importance in our individual and corporate lives. There is usually a time of open prayer during our Sunday worship service, as well as prayer for one another playing an important role in the Housegroup setting.

We also hold a weekly prayer meeting to pray for the church family, the community, our country and worldwide issues. This meeting is on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm in the Chapel. A small group meets fortnightly to pray specifically for Israel.

Service Times

We meet at 10.30am every Sunday.

Abbey Chapel can be found at

Bedford Square,
Tavistock

Whilst there is no on-site parking, there is usually ample free parking on Sunday mornings on the surrounding streets. We suggest trying Plymouth Road, Duke Street or Market Road.

Romans 8.28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Psalm 139.8-10

If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

Psalm 62.5-8

Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honour depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.
