Mid-Week Meetings

Housegroups are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays across Tavistock and the outlying areas. Each housegroup includes an Elder and a Deacon, and chooses its own focus for study, whether following a specific book of the Bible, or looking at the Biblical teaching on a topical issue. Resources are varied and can include CDs, DVDs or study guides, but will always include the Bible!

We encourage membership of Housegroups, and believe six to eight people to be an ideal size for a home-based group. This allows people to share any concerns in a small, close knit group, but the group is still viable when some members are on holiday. Housegroups are the first point of pastoral care as they are able to pick up on any physical or spiritual needs of the members, and provide support to each other.

We recognise that not all people are able to attend a Housegroup, but all need pastoral care! To this end, those fellowship members who do not attend a Housegroup are nevertheless assigned to a group, so that the group can pray for them regularly, and also keep an eye on their needs and ensure they are not overlooked.

We are blessed in having a good number of men in the fellowship. A Men's Meeting takes place on the first Monday of the month, when the men share a meal (usually a take-away) together and share testimonies, prayer and fellowship. Many of the men find this men-only group invaluable.

Brave is a fortnightly meeting, held on a Wednesday evening in Abbey Chapel, specifically for ladies who want to explore more about the Christian Faith.

in the Spring of 2017 we are hoping to start 'Silver Service' - a monthly mid-week day-time meeting for the more mature, including songs of praise and worship, Bible reading, prayer, and tea and cake.

A small group meetings fortnightly, on a Thursday evening, to engage in Prayer for Israel, as the Bible encourages us to do.
